- Championship Golf Course & Marina
At Exit 77 on Interstate 57, the Rend Lake Recreation Complex includes Franklin
County's Rend Lake Golf Course features a 27-hole, championship course, pro
shop, and large driving range. A full-service restaurant equipped with
banquet rooms is open seven days a week. Also nearby is the Rend lake Marina
with boat launching facilities and rentals.
- Craft Shops and Visitors Center
The Southern Illinois Artisans Shop and Visitors Center features a beautiful
15,000 square-foot facility which exhibits the works of more than 350 Illinois
artisans. Craft demonstrations and exhibits are in progress during the summer
months.
- Jail Museum
The City of Benton offers an old-time jail museum. See the place where the last
hanging in Illinois took place. Take a step back in time and and see how they
used to keep the peace!
- Casinos and Tele-Tracks
The Casino Queen (East St. Louis), Players Island (Metropolis, IL) and Aztar
(Evansville, IN) casinos and two Tele-Tracks are all located within a 90-minute
drive of Benton.
